Packing/Shipping Clerk

POSITION SUMMARY
Under minimal supervision, pack nameplates, inspect material and insuring quality product.  Close attention to detail essential.  May work with others on some packing orders.  Confers with supervisor if problems arise.  High-quality output expected.    ­     ­

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

­

  • Preparation of nameplates for shipping.­
  • Inspect nameplates visually for various problems, including: registrations, dents, paint chipping, poor cutting.
  • Review job order for specific packing instructions.­
  • Select correct packaging.­
  • Verify that all processes have been completed on nameplate according to job order.­
  • Whenever possible, visually inspect nameplates in the sheet, before punching out of scrap; otherwise, visually inspect while packing, removing defective pieces and maintaining count.
  • Use computer scale to insure accurate count.
  • May coordinate daily shipping procedures to insure prompt delivery using electronic parcel system.
  • May weigh, label and stamp packages, monitoring type of delivery requested by customer (i.e., UPS, air freight, parcel post, truck lines, etc.)­.
  • Participate in and oversee training of new employees.­
  • Participate in employee appraisal process.
  • Manage workflow in department.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform other duties as assigned.­
  • Follow departmental job policies & procedures­
  • Maintain a neat, safe work area.­
  • May be asked to represent department on Safety, Quality and other committees.­
  • Must be able to perform basic math calculation (addition, multiplication, etc.).
  • Should have good manual dexterity.­
  • Perform other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.

  • Preferred qualifications for this job include:  a high school diploma/HSED/GED or a minimum of 3 years of work experience in a manufacturing setting.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand long hours; walk; sit; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision requirements in close vision.

 

 

Fabrication Utility Worker

POSITION SUMMARY

Under moderate supervision, performs a variety of duties in a number of departments.  Working under the direction of the Fabrication Manager.  May be assigned to any department on a daily, weekly or monthly basis, depending on production needs of the company.  Has a range of knowledge of all areas of production.  Exhibits ability to undertake duties without causing any disturbances within assigned departments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • May perform any or all of the worker activities listed under:
  • Laminating
  • Numbering
  • Packing
  • Punch Press
  • Spartanic Shear
  • Follow departmental job policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a neat and safe work area.
  • Adaptable to and a range of knowledge of all areas of production within plant.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • May be asked to represent department on Safety, Quality and other committees.
  • Operate machines that may include punch press, shears or numbering machines.
  • Visually inspect materials while running machine.
  • Perform other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
  • Must have flexible work habits.
  • Willing to perform tasks listed in other pay-grade descriptions as required.
